BETTER HOBART Salon #3 – Memories in Townscape.
Delighted to have been invited to give a talk as part of the Better Hobart Salon series on the subject of building and preserving memories through Townscape. An evening for those interested in the deeper meaning of space and the concept that if you remember a place, you love a place, I will be giving a talk based on my research into the power of smell to trigger memories. In it I will examine how this might be manipulated to help build a spatial organised world and aid in the process of place-making.
Sharing the bill is local Cultural Heritage researcher Alexandria Costin, who will give an overview of her research into heritage conservation as a processes of porosity and nostalgia and discuss the concept of urban landscapes as collective memory, and how connections can be formed through adaptive re-use.
